Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown might be one of the best kept secrets in rock and roll, or at least in Omaha, Nebraska anyway. They have toured the world opening stadiums for the likes of AC/DC and Guns and Roses while definitely holding their own with those legends. But in Omaha, they aren’t quite as well known. After the show, Tyler Bryant said that they do need to do a better job of growing a following in Nebraska. They played Barnato this past Friday night, which is a great venue. But in my opinion, small for a band like TBSD. For me, it was awesome. How often do you get to see one of your favorite bands play in a small intimate setting with about 100 other folks in attendance? For a fan, it’s a dream come true. And the thing about this band, they give you 100% whether is 5, 500, or 5000 in attendance. They love to play for any and every one willing to listen.
Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown is made up of Tyler Bryant on lead vocals and guitar, Graham Whitford on guitar, Caleb Crosby drums, and Ryan Fitzgerald on bass. They all play with passion, energy, and the love of music. To me, that’s what makes their show so unique. A large part of the set list was off the newest full length release, Shake the Roots. Which was also the first release with the new record label Tyler Bryant started, Rattle Shake Records. They also played some other favorites, opening with Drive Me Mad, On To the Next, and Ride. They closed the set with Lipstick Wonder Woman, which is a definite fan favorite from their first full length release Wild Child.
All in all an amazing night. If you are not familiar with Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown you need to check them out. Hard driving blues rock with a nice mix of southern comfort, can’t go wrong with that mixture. Each release they have is better than the last. They just keep getting better and better.
